What’s the Meaning of Calendar Symbols on Mac?

February 29, 2020 By admin_how_OS Leave a Comment

Calendar Symbols on Mac: Symbols are characters that are used as depictions or indicators. They allow us to know the meaning in a visual form. We also view them everywhere, including the Calendar app on Mac. And in most times symbols are quite obvious in what they represent. However, there are many other times when we scratch our heads.

For a clearer understanding, we’ve put together explanations and screenshots to help you break what you view.

Symbols for Calendar Notifications

For event invitations, you receive or modify to existing events you can view a notification in two places. One is in your Dock, suppose you have the Calendar app there.

Also, the other is in the Calendar app itself. It provides you different ways to spot the number of events that want your attention.

Symbols For Events

However, when you are the organizer of an event, you’ll like to know if those you invite accept, decline, or reply with a “maybe”.

We’ll display your symbols for your individual invitees later. But for your actual event, you can view these statuses too.

Symbols For Responses

If you invite others to an event, there are many symbols that you might see next to the person’s name.

At a glance, you can also view if the responded, declined, accepted or answered with a maybe.

And there are some other symbols for those whose availability you have access to. Also, if the person isn’t listed for your selected calendar server.

Miscellaneous Symbols

You can also view some additional indicators in the calendar app. For example, all-day events are highlighted in the same color as that calendar. As it is quite easy to spot in the Month view. For Day and Week views, these will also appear at the top of the day.

However, in the Month view, events for a particular time will seem with a dot next to them that matches the exact color of the calendar.

If you can also view an event with a line through it, it’s been canceled. And if you view a circle with a line through it, that means you declined the event.

Conclusion:

Some of these Calendar symbols on Mac are easy to understand at first sight. But others, like the different question marks, aren’t quite as obvious. So hopefully this walk-through of the symbols you see will help you!
