How to use the Unsubscribe feature in Mail on Mac

October 31, 2019 By admin_how_OS 1 Comment

How to use the Unsubscribe feature in Mail on Mac? When you shop online, make a reservation, order delivery, or something similar, you can easily end up on a mailing list. And many times, you enjoy getting those emails from companies to get discounts or news. But there are other times when those emails get to be too much.

You can easily request that you be removed from these types of messages in the Mail app on Mac and it takes only a couple of clicks.

While this is not a new feature for iOS users, it is a new feature on Mac as of macOS Catalina. Here’s how to use the Unsubscribe feature in the Mail app on Mac.

The Unsubscribe feature

The Mail app recognizes emails that come from a mailing list, usually from a business of some sort. These types of emails have a message at the top of the header stating, “This is from a mailing list” along with a link for you to Unsubscribe.

If you choose to Unsubscribe, the Mail app will send an email to that company with a request to remove your email address from their mailing list.

Unsubscribe in Mail on Mac

Open the Mail app on your Mac and then follow these simple steps.

1) Select the email you want to unsubscribe from, whether in your inbox list or in its own window.

2) Click the link to Unsubscribe.

3) Confirm this action by clicking OK.

Once you do this, the email will not be moved or marked in any way and the Unsubscribe option will disappear.

And just in case you missed our how-to for unsubscribing on iOS, here’s a reminder of how to use it.

1) Open the Mail app and email you want to unsubscribe from.

2) Tap the link at the top to Unsubscribe.

3) Confirm this action by clicking Unsubscribe once more.

Like on Mac, the email will remain where you have it in your Mail app, but the Unsubscribe message will be gone.

Conclusion:

The Unsubscribe option in the Mail app is one of the handiest features. Unless you download a third-party app that lets you unsubscribe to many emails in one fell swoop, this feature is ideal for those one-off situations.

What do you think of the Unsubscribe feature addition to Mail on Mac? Are you happy that has arrived? Let us know!
