iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and macOS include the new Search app. This app combines Search my iPhone and Search my Friends in a single and simple iOS application. In this tutorial, we will show you how to share your location on iPhone with family and friends on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with the Find My application. This will be great for locating your friends and your devices, the latter even when they are not connected to the network.
It’s easy to share your location with family members in the Messages or Find My Friends app. In addition, you can help your family members find their lost devices with Find My iPhone.
Share your location on iPhone with the Search app
In addition to being able to share your location and see others in the “Search” application, you can also see where your friends and family are in the Messages application.
Check to Search my iPhone so you can find your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Apple Watch, Mac and AirPods if they get lost.
Search helps you locate and protect your device in case of loss or theft. Simply log in to iCloud.com or the Find My iPhone application to view your lost device on a map. Just play a sound that helps you find it, use Lost Mode to lock and track it, or remotely erase all your personal information.

Share location and Search my iPhone
If you join Family Sharing and want to share your location with family members, they can help you locate and recover a lost device.
If you activated Search my iPhone on the lost device, a family member can help you do the following:
- View the location and status offline or online of the device.
- Play a sound on the device to make it easier to find.
- Put the device in lost mode if it already has a code set.
If you do not share your location, your family and friends cannot access the location data of your devices. However, even if they don’t have access to location data, your family can’t help you. They can check the online or offline status of the lost device, play sounds or put it in lost mode.
