Record Narration in Keynote: Here’s how to?

Record Narration in Keynote: While making a presentation that you want to add narration to, Keynote on Mac gives you tools to do it. You may have a slideshow that’s a guide or one that you wish to spend time explaining as you play it.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to record narration in your Keynote presentation.

Record your Narration in Keynote

Open your slideshow in Keynote on your Mac and then follow these steps carefully to record your narration.

Step 1:

Tap the Document button on the top right of the window.

Step 2:

Choose the Audio tab and tap Record.

Step 3:

Your presentation will open in a new, full-screen window. At the bottom, there are controls for recording. Press the red Record button to begin recording and again when you want to stop.

While record narration for each slide, you can open Show Navigator on the top left. Tap a slide and speak to record, then tap the next slide and continue speaking. Don’t pause between slides, unless you need to.

You’ll check that before you begin recording and when you complete, a green bar will show across the top of the window. While recording, that bar will turn red. This indicator show you if you’re recording or not.

Step 4:

When you end recording, press the red Record button to stop. Then, close the window and save the recording by hitting the Escape key.

Step 5:

In the Keynote window, you’ll see in the sidebar in the right that having a recording. To play it, tap the Play button in the toolbar.

You’ll check two options: Play on This Mac and Play Recorded Slideshow. Obviously, you’ll also choose the second one so you can hear your narration. The first choice will only play the visual slideshow (without the narration).

Rerecording or removing your narration

When you record narration for your presentation, currently there’s no way to “edit” it other than rerecording it or removing it.

If you want to re-record your narration, follow the same steps as above. The latest recording will automatically replace the old one.

To remove your narration, just tap the Clear button below it in the sidebar on the right and then confirm this action in the pop-up by tapping Clear.

Conclusion:

Recording your own narration is just the addition you want to finish your presentation. Also, make sure you can record other types of audio and add it to individual slides too.
