How to Change Your iPhone Voicemail Password

June 6, 2020 By Afsah Saeed Leave a Comment

When the iPhone first came out in 2007, it was the first device to include Visual Voicemail. The feature that allows users to view their voicemails, scroll through them, and of course listen to them, directly from the device. With Visual Voicemail, no need to dial a number and go through an automated message system to listen to your voicemails. In this article, we are going to talk about How to Change Your iPhone Voicemail Password. Let’s begin!

All you are trying to do is to access your voicemail but unfortunately, you can’t because your iPhone says that, “Password Incorrect. Enter voicemail password.”  You tried to enter some code combination but still getting the same error. Apparently, it is a security feature but can also be very irritating especially if it’s asking repeatedly. If you are here because you keep seeing the same error when trying to access your voicemails or even when you are not using the voicemail system, then this post might be able to help you out. Keep reading to learn why your iPhone says that your voicemail password is incorrect and what should we do to correct the error.

Since everything is now handled directly on the phone. You can also change your voicemail password directly from your iPhone.

What does this voicemail error mean?

As the error message implies, your iPhone is telling you that the password you enter is incorrect and therefore you can’t access your voicemail. The main reason why it said so is that you did enter the wrong voicemail password or the iPhone is just experiencing some random system flaws that adversely affect its voicemail function. Problems related to your account or carrier services are also among the underlying causes. That said, you need to eliminate each of these factors from the underlying causes.

Before troubleshooting, try to enter the default voicemail password on your iPhone. A default voicemail password is set for every new iPhone device. The default password is usually the last 4 digits of your social security number, if not, 0000, 1111, or 1234. This information is usually needed to complete the initial setup process. It is imperative to set up a voicemail password for security reasons. Doing so prevents any unauthorized person from accessing your voicemail messages.

Also, check and ensure that your iPhone has a stable cellular network connection. You can test it by placing a sample call from your iPhone to random contacts or vice versa. Also, make sure that you have set up voicemail on your iPhone. The easiest way to check is by dialing your own phone number from your iPhone and then leaving yourself a sample message. Or you can call your iPhone from another phone and then leave a voicemail message. If none of that helps, then you can continue with these subsequent methods.

In this post, we will show you how to change your Visual Voicemail password from your iPhone.

How to change your iPhone voicemail password

  • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone.
  • Tap the Change Voicemail Password option.
  • Enter a new voicemail password, then tap Done.
  • Re-enter your new voicemail password to confirm, and tap Done.

Your new voicemail password should now be active. Next time you check your voicemail on your iPhone, you should be prompted to enter the new passcode.
