Check if iCloud Contacts Are Enabled

Another most common reason why Contacts suddenly disappear and appear as phone numbers without names attached. Well, it’s that somehow iCloud Contacts has been turned off, but you were earlier using it.

Head over to Settings > click your name to access Apple ID settings > iCloud. Then look under Apps Using iCloud and make sure that “Contacts” is toggled to the ON position to be enabled.
