Add Background Music Soundtrack Keynote: Using Keynote to create a presentation, there are other reasons you may want to include background music.

You might be launching the latest product and want something upbeat and dynamic. You may also make a slideshow for an event and want a meaningful song. Or, you might be creating a presentation for a charity and needs to make a bold statement.

Well, whatever the case may be, it’s quite easy to add background music or a soundtrack in Keynote and here’s how.

How to Add background Music to a Presentation on Mac

While creating a slideshow that you want to add music to in Keynote on your Mac. Also, remember that you have the audio file that you want to use in MPEG-4 file format and that it’s not DRM protected.

Also, make sure that you’ll be using the Soundtrack feature. As it’ll play the audio file from the start of your presentation.

Step 1:

Tap the Document button on the upper right of the Keynote window.

Step 2:

Also, Choose the Audio tab.

Step 3:

Under Soundtrack, tap the plus sign button.

Step 4:

Now browse or looking for the audio file that you want to use and select it.

Step 5:

You’ll see the file pop into the Soundtrack area in the sidebar and you can add another if you want to.

You can also adjust the soundtrack to Off, Play Once, or Loop with Play Once chosen by default.

Now play your slideshow from the beginning and you’ll hear your tune.

Add Background Music to a Slide on Mac

If you don’t like the music to play throughout your whole presentation and want it for one slide only, this is easy too.

Step 1:

Firstly, visit the slide where you want the audio.

Step 2:

Tap Media > Music from the Keynote toolbar. Alternatively, once your folder opens containing the audio file, you can drag it onto the slide.

Step 3:

Also, choose the file or drag it to the spot on the slide where you want it.

Step 4:

The file display like round play button that you can click to play and pause. To move it, just choose, drag, and drop.

Step 5:

Tap the Format button on the upper right to make adjustments to the audio such as trimming, repeating, or starting on tap.

Add Background Music to a Presentation on iPhone and iPad

While working with Keynote on your iPhone or iPad, you can also add background music there as well. And the same rules apply as on Mac as far as to file type and protected files.

Step 1:

Firstly, open your presentation and click the More button on the top.

Step 2:

Choose Soundtrack and click Choose Audio.

Step 3:

Select your audio file and then pick Off, Play Once, or Loop. You can also add another file if you like or just click Done.

All done! Now play your slideshow and you’ll hear that musical background you choose.

Add Background Music to a Slide on iPhone and iPad

Step 1:

Firstly, go to the slide where you want the audio.

Step 2:

Click the plus sign at the top right.

Step 3:

Also, select either Photo or Video or Insert from, depending on the type and location of the file.

Step 4:

Choose the file and it will display as a round play button that you can tap to play and pause. To move it, just click, drag, and drop.

Step 5:

Click Format to make adjustments to the audio such as looping or starting on tap.
